Meet the Children

On June 1, 2016, we met Pastor Douglas of Ritare Village in Ogembo Kenya.  In the care of he and his wife Damaris Osoro, 24 orphaned children from the area.  Even two weeks ago, the family took in the infant Elizabeth.  And just three days ago four malnourished kids, in neglectful care of a relative find their way to the door of My Savior Lives Orphanage – Ogembo.

Today is August 26, 2016, my name is Bruce Dickey.  44 years ago today, in the afternoon, I married my wife Kay, and it is our anniversary.   It is 7:30 a.m. and she is already at the school where she teaches elementary for the past 39 years.  As we celebrate our milestone, we share these kids in Africa.  While we don’t know the individual stories of each child, we know general reasons there are so many orphans in Kenya and Africa in expanded focus. HIV Aids, election violence, war, poverty, rampant infidelity, even rape, we’ve heard it all in the last 3.25 years in Kenya.

If you listen to the naysayers, you would never help a single orphan in Kenya.  Pastor Douglas ignores those voices, but listens to the children’s voices, sweet, precious, sad, and poignant, if they can tell their story.  Kenyan lives, so little, in so much turmoil, they need a place to call home and someone to love them.  MSLO is such a place and Douglas and Damaris, who is pregnant with their first child, they are such people.  They are the adults, the Christian voice to Kenya’s lost children.  We may be unable to help all 1.2 million, but we can possibly make a difference for 24 plus four more this week, so 28 little lives.  Allow me to introduce you to these kids…
